CULTURAL DETERMINANTS OF FOREIGN DIRECT INVESTMENT: NATIONALIST-XENOPHOBIC ATTITUDES

Cultural characteristics related to the values of national identity (patriotism, nationalism) and attitudes toward other peoples (xenophobia) represent important elements cultural specificity that influence various dimensions socioeconomic life, including economic processes. Unfortunately, these specific are not often investigated, especially in this context, probably because difficulty quantifying them general sensitivity topic. This study presents an original approach nationalist-xenophobic their relationship foreign direct investment (FDI). The aim is identify theoretical benchmarks for approaching topic nationalism-xenophobia, develop a synthetic indicator quantify nationalism-xenophobic attitudes, highlight mechanism on FDI attraction. methodology used conducting research comprises methods analysis, synthesis, induction (for logical connections argumentation), weighted average technique elaboration Nationalism-xenophobia Index), Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient internal consistency (to test reliability construct) Pearson correlation analysis). author's contributions include between nationalist xenophobic sentiments, development Index, intensity sentiments society, analysis nationalism-xenophobia relations amount attracted per capita, identification explanation by which phenomena, FDI.
